Yesterday’s official arrival of spring was sombre in Vancouver, fitting given the state of the world. Dark skies. Stinging, cold, and incessant, rain. A gloomy forecast for more of the same all week.

Yet much as I might feel like it, I have no right to complain.

Vancouver is pelted with clean water, not missiles. Not Saharan sand, which coated much of Europe last week. Not nuclear fallout. There are far worse places to be than in a rainforest in rain.

And the day before – ah!

Our Saturday walk in Vancouver on a rare Blue Sky day was a day to cherish, and to store for a darker day – when lightness and joy are needed.
